When it comes to earning a college degree, the greatest obstacle can be funding.

For this reason, The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of UA alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.

Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.

If you are interested in making a significant contribution to student success, please consider a gift to scholarships. You may also establish a named scholarship at The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, which can be created to honor a living person, in memory of a loved one, or to contribute to the growth of an area of study.

The Department of Development does not accept applications for or distribute scholarships. Scholarships are distributed through the University’s Office of Student Financial Aid.

Van Sickle, John C. Pathway to Education Scholarship

The John C. Van Sickle Pathway to Education Scholarship was created in August 2017 by an estate gift from Natalie B. Van Sickle. Mrs. Van Sickle provided this gift in memory of her late husband, John C. Van Sickle, a 1935 graduate of The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology.
This scholarship will serve as a resource for students to continue their studies at The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ. Merit and financial need will be taken into consideration for selection.

The John C. Van Sickle Pathway to Education Scholarship will be awarded annually, as funds are available, to undergraduate (preferred) or graduate students majoring in any field at The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ. Applicants for this scholarship must be currently enrolled at The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ and in good academic standing. Applicants must also demonstrate merit and financial need, and maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Recipients may apply for renewal of this scholarship providing the above criteria, including the minimum 2.0 grade point average, are maintained. Selection may be made by the Office of the President, the Office of Student Financial Aid, and/or the Vice President of Development/Executive Director of The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Foundation.
